Representing Workers at the Dupont Plant in Mesothelioma & Lung Cancer Claims

There are serious health risks linked to Dupont plant asbestos while employees worked in a chemical production facility. The most common dangers include inhaling toxic fumes and asbestos fibers that can cause serious illnesses and cancers like mesothelioma.

DuPont employees may have been exposed to asbestos and been unaware at the time. For many years, asbestos was considered the most effective industrial insulator available because it is highly resistant to heat and fire. As a result, thousands of chemical plant workers in Ohio were regularly exposed to toxic asbestos materials.

In some cases, chemical plants took no precautions to protect workers from the dangers of asbestos or inform the workers of these dangers. This negligence resulted in hundreds of Ohio plant workers developing asbestos-related diseases.

Nearly any worker in an Ohio chemical plant could be at risk of developing serious health issues, including asbestosis, lung cancer, and mesothelioma.

Joe Lyon is a highly-rated Cincinnati asbestos lawyer and Ohio Toxic Exposure attorney representing plaintiffs nationwide in a wide variety of toxic tort and mesothelioma claims.

Asbestos Risk in Chemical Plants

Chemical manufacturing facilities like DuPont often house large amounts of piping that connect manufacturing and industrial buildings. The insulation for pipes, as well other equipment such as ovens, tanks, boilers and pumps, likely contained asbestos.

Asbestos also lined work areas and was even found in the clothing chemical workers wore to protect themselves from burns and fire. Some employees may have even been issued asbestos-lined face masks.

Asbestos is especially toxic when it is disturbed through cutting, grinding, or naturally deteriorates over time. Maintenance workers are at high risk; however anyone working in the area is likely to inhale the fibers, which can get lodged in tissue surrounding the lungs and cause permanent damage.

DuPont Asbestos Lawsuits

DuPont has a history of exposing workers to cancer-causing agents, like asbestos. In the 1980s, a New Jersey jury found that DuPont deliberately concealed medical records that showed six maintenance workers developed asbestos-related diseases, associated with their work.  The company has paid out millions to victims of toxic exposure.

Former  Ohio DuPont employees who developed mesothelioma after working may have claims against the company. In 2015, Chemours, a DuPont spinoff, said it faced 2,400 asbestos-related lawsuits from contractors in Ohio and West Virginia.

Ohio DuPont Asbestos

America’s chemical companies have a responsibility to provide employees with safe working environments. When companies like DuPont fail to protect workers, they should compensate employees and their families for the damage they caused.

Workers in Ohio’s chemical plants who have developed health issues may have claims against their former or current employers. Please do not hesitate to seek medical and legal assistance.

Why are these cases important?

Many experience asbestos exposure through the workplace. Workplaces may have been filled with toxic materials, and employers may have failed to warn of the serious health risks of the job. Filing a suit helps to raise the awareness of job safety.
