What Happened at SSK Plastic Surgery?
SSK Plastic Surgery announced recently that it was targeted in a data breach incident in which a hacker gained access to some internal files and attempted to extort the company. According to information available, sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed.
After an initial investigation, SSK confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party between March 20, 2024, and July 24, 2024. In January, the firm concluded that the type of information potentially exposed includes the following:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Telephone number
- Email address
- Driver’s license number
- Health information (including images, if provided, for virtual consultation services)
SSK Plastic Surgery is an aesthetic surgery facility based in Orange County, California. SSK offers plastic, cosmetic, and reconstructive surgery services, including surgical and nonsurgical procedures for the body, breasts, face, and skin.
SSK has posted a notice of the incident on its website and sent a sample letter to the AG office of California. In addition, the company has begun sending out data breach notification letters to all impacted individuals detailing the personal data at risk.
