What Happened at Smart ERP Solutions?

According to a sample letter sent to the Attorney General of California, on March 11, 2025, Smart ERP Solutions, Inc. filed a notice of data breach after discovering that an unauthorized party had accessed files on the company’s IT network. SmartERP explains in the notice that the incident resulted in the unauthorized party accessing consumers’ sensitive information.

According to Smart ERP, on July 13, 2024, the company experienced a cybersecurity intrusion that impacted their IT networks. After an investigation conducted with third-party specialists, on February 11, 2025, SmartERP concluded that the unauthorized party responsible for the cyberattack had indeed gained access to certain files on its network back in July of 2024.

While the sample data breach letter on the California Attorney General’s website does not detail what type of personal information was compromised, state reporting guidelines label the following as personal information:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or other government issued ID card numbers
  • Financial account number
  • Credit or debit card number
  • Biometric data
  • Genetic information
  • Health information
