SharkNinja Pressure Cooker Recall | Burn Injury Lawsuits

The product liability attorneys at The Lyon Firm are investigating serious burn injury claims on behalf of individuals nationwide after aa report that over a hundred consumers have suffered burn injuries related to the recently recalled SharkNinja Foodi Pressure Cooker. Around 1.8 million units were recalled by the CPSC on May 1, 2025.

Which SharkNinja Pressure Cookers were Recalled?

The recent recall involves all Ninja Foodi OP300 Series Multi-Function Pressure Cookers, totaling 1,846,400 in the U.S., and another 184,000 units sold in Canada. The following model numbers are included in this recall: OP300, OP301, OP301A, OP302, OP302BRN, OP302HCN, OP302HAQ, OP302HW, OP302HB, OP305, OP305CO and OP350CO.

If you own a Ninja Foodi pressure cooker, the manufacturer recommends that you stop using the pressure-cooking function but that you can continue to use the cooker for air frying. Our attorneys urge consumers to stop using the appliance entirely until it is either fixed or replaced. Consumers can contact SharkNinja for a free replacement lid.

The recalled SharkNinja pressure cookers were sold between from January 2019 through March 2025 by online retailers, including Amazon, Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club and Target store. The recall also includes any OP300 series replacement pressure cooker lids that were purchased separately.

How Do the Pressure Cookers Cause Burn Injuries?

SharkNinja is recalling the cookers after a large number of burn injury reports, according to a US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). There have been at least 106 reports of burn injuries, of which more than 50 have been second- or third-degree burns to the face or body.

The Ninja Foodi OP300 Series Multi-Function Pressure Cooker risks burning users due to a defective lid. The cooker lid can be opened during use, potentially “causing hot contents to escape.” Dozens of lawsuits have allegedly been filed against SharkNinja Operating LLC, of Needham, Massachusetts, according to the safety commission.

“The safety of our customers is a top priority for SharkNinja,” the company told CNN, adding that the recall was in cooperation with the CPSC and Health Canada. “This addresses reports that some consumers have been able to open the pressure-cooking lids of certain units of these cookers during use, resulting in burn injuries from hot contents.”

Some kitchen appliances are inherently more dangerous than others. Because of their design and method of operation, pressure cookers can be some of the most hazardous items in an American household. Pressure cookers rely on high pressure to cook foods quickly, trapping extremely hot liquid and food. If the appliance happens to break or fail due to defects in materials or design, an accident may occur involving spills and explosions.

Each year, defective pressure cookers are recalled by appliance manufacturers and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). However, by the time the specific defective models are recalled, consumers may have already suffered serious injuries.

In fact, many recalls are not initiated until injuries are reported or lawsuits hold companies accountable for the damages they have caused. Victims of defective products and their attorneys have the right to file claims against any company who sells and distributes dangerous defective kitchen appliances like pressure cookers.
