What happened at Salus Group?

On April 8, 2025, Benefits Partner, LLC dba Salus Group filed a notice of data breach with the Attorney General of Texas after concluding that an unauthorized party accessed an employee’s email account. In the company notice, the company explains that the data security incident may have resulted in the unauthorized party accessing and leaking certain sensitive information, which may include the following: names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account information, health insurance information, and medical information.

After a full investigation, Salus Group started sending out data breach notification letters to individuals whose information was compromised by the data breach. According to the notice, on October 9, 2024, Salus Group first identified suspicious activity on their email network.

It is currently unclear why it took so long for the company to notify their customer base of the incident. It was not until late March 2025 when they began mailing data breach notification letters to all individuals known to be impacted.
