What happened at Kirk Corporation?
Kirk Corporation reported to the Attorney General of New Hampshire that the company experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its possession may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice sent out to authorities, on August 15, 2024, Kirk Corporation experienced a network disruption and started an investigation. Kirk later confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party between August 7 and August 15, 2024.
The types of personal information potentially exposed is still unclear at the moment, but according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license or other government identification number
- Financial account number
- Credit or debit card number
It is not known why it took the company so long to alert potentially impacted individuals. However, on May 19, 2025, Kirk Corporation started mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals.
