Illinois Gastroenterology Group (IGG) has begun sending out notices of a recent incident that may affect the data security of an estimated 227,000 individuals.

In October 2021, Illinois Gastroenterology discovered unusual activity on its network and launched an investigation with third-party cybersecurity specialists. In November, the company concluded that an unauthorized actor gained access to Illinois Gastroenterology systems and a wide variety of patient data may have been compromised.

IGG reviewed all personal information or protected health information potentially impacted, and not until March 2022 did they determine the full scope of the incident.
