What Happened at Excelsior Orthopaedics?
Back in June 2024, unusual IT network activity was identified on the Excelsior IT systems. An investigation was then launched to determine the cause, scope and nature of the cyberattack. The company soon concluded that an unauthorized third party had accessed, viewed and possibly copied the data of current and former patients and employees of Excelsior Orthopaedics, Buffalo Surgery Center and Northtowns Orthopaedics in Buffalo. Most data breach notification letters were not sent out until December 31, 2024.
