What Happened at Medusind?
According to the company’s breach notice, on December 29, 2023, Medusind first became aware of suspicious activity within its IT network and started an investigation to determine the scope and nature of the incident.
The Miami, Florida company has begun sending out notice to roughly 360,000 individuals and on January 7, 2025, Medusind filed a notice of data breach with the Attorney General of Maine. The company says hackers were allegedly able to access the company’s computer network and possibly remove large swaths of patients’ sensitive personal data. The following sensitive personal identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI) may have been compromised:

- Health insurance and billing information
- Financial information
- Medical information
- Social Security numbers
- Driver’s license numbers
- Passport numbers
