What happened at Dignity Health?
According to a report sent to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (HHS) in late December, as many as 65,482 individuals may have had their data leaked in what they are calling a “hacking/IT incident.”
On the Dignity Health Lassen Medical Clinic website, the company explains in a notice that on September 20, 2024, the Lassen Clinics learned there was an active cyberattack identified on its network. The Lassen Clinics disabled its IT network and began an initial investigation. The investigation later determined that an unauthorized third party gained access to the clinic network between September 17, 2024 to September 20, 2024.
They also concluded that the unauthorized third party has obtained copies of some personal data from its systems containing confidential patient medical information, which may have included the following:
- Name
- Address
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license number
- Financial account information
- Medical and health insurance information
- Social Security Number
