American Engineers – AEI Data Breach Investigation

What Happened at AEI?

In April, 2024, American Engineers began mailing data breach notification letters to individuals affected by the alleged data security incident. Based on the breach notice, on October 22, 2023, AEI became aware of suspicious IT activity and launched an investigation.

After an initial investigation, AEI concluded that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and obtained by an unauthorized third party. The compromised data can include the following:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or other government identification number
  • Account number, credit or debit card number, in combination with any required security code, access code, or password that would permit access to an individual’s financial account

American Engineers offers civil site engineering, geospatial, geotechnical, geophysical, environmental, structural, transportation design, landscape architecture, land acquisition, and construction phase services. Last year, the company was acquired by STV, Inc. and now operates as AEI, an STV Company.
