FMC Asbestos Mesothelioma & Lung Cancer Claims
Due to the widespread use of the toxic material, FMC asbestos lawsuits have become necessary for many former FMC workers. Employees handled a number of products that were produced with the cancer-causing mineral, and later thousands of workers were placed at serious risk.
Toxic Exposure Lawyer Investigating Occupational Cancers
FMC Corporation was most well known for producing their Peerless pumps into the 1980s. The company also used asbestos-containing components in FMC asbestos gaskets, friction discs, brake linings and clutch facings. The company built pumps, cranes, excavators, industrial brakes and clutches allegedly with asbestos components.
Before it was known that asbestos could directly cause cancer, it was regularly added to products to increase durability, strength and heat- and fire-resistance. Many companies acquired by FMC Corporation over the years also manufactured asbestos products, including Link-Belt Company/Construction Equipment Group and Stearns Electric Company. The following pumps may have contained asbestos:
- Chicago Pumps
- Northern Pumps
- Peerless Pumps

Asbestos Exposure & Cancer Risks
When asbestos fibers break down, they create a fine toxic dust that can be ingested or inhaled, which can lead to mesothelioma, asbestosis and lung cancer. The damage cannot be flushed from the body, and it will likely cause significant health consequences in the future. Asbestos related illnesses include:
- Angiosarcoma
- Mesothelioma Cancer
- Asbestosis
- Lung Cancer
- Adenocarcinoma
- Pulmonary Fibrosis
- Esophageal Cancer
- Colon Cancer
The U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has noted that there is no safe level of exposure to asbestos. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) also warn of any exposure to the toxin and have banned most uses of the material.
