According to data breach notices recently sent out to thousands of impacted individuals, a system configuration error led to a prolonged data breach at a Florida drug screening laboratory. St. Lucie County’s Drug Screening Lab, known as SLC Lab, offers drug testing services for employment, court cases and other purposes.

In a statement released in January 2022, the IT misconfiguration detected in the lab’s website portal allegedly made some personal data accessible for over four years. Sensitive data may have been accessible  between June 2017 and October 2021.

Data exposed in the SLC Lab data breach included full names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth and lab test results.
