Sea Mar Community Health Centers, a Washington non-profit that provides healthcare services to under-served communities, has announced a data breach incident, and has sent data breach notification letters to former Seamar patients who are potentially impacted.

In late June 2021, Sea Mar learned that personal data had been copied from its network by an unauthorized individual. Independent cybersecurity experts learned that additional data may have been stolen at an earlier date.

Sea Mar is not yet aware of any evidence of data misuse, though in data breach events, data is generally stolen in order to sell or hold for ransom. Compromised personal data may include:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Client identification number (CIN)
  • Diagnostic and treatment information
  • Medical, vision or dental insurance information
