What Happened at With Intelligence and PeopleCheck?

With Intelligence Ltd., a provider of investment management intelligence, fell victim to a data breach through its third-party background screening provider, PeopleCheck. Threat actors allegedly gained unauthorized access to the PeopleCheck IT systems using compromised login credentials. The breach specifically targeted individuals whose background checks were conducted by PeopleCheck on behalf of With Intelligence Ltd.

The compromised information may include the following personally identifiable information (PII): names, email addresses, dates of birth, phone numbers, birth cities, Social Security numbers, genders, mothers’ names, and share codes. While PeopleCheck has assured that no financial information or uploaded documentation was stolen, the exposure of Social Security numbers and other sensitive identifiers makes this breach particularly egregious.

The breach was discovered on June 28, 2025, after PeopleCheck engaged forensic investigators to assess the incident. By July 11, 2025, it was believed that data belonging to With Intelligence Ltd. had been compromised. The root cause was traced to compromised login credentials, highlighting the critical risks associated with third-party vendor management and the importance of robust credential security.

For those affected, the breach is more than a privacy violation—it’s a personal attack that can have a far-reaching impact. If you’ve been impacted by any data data breach, you have legal rights and pursuing them could lead to compensation and accountability. While legal action is a consideration, these are a few steps you can take to protect yourself immediately:

  • Monitor Your Credit: Watch for suspicious activity on your credit reports and financial accounts. Consider enrolling in credit monitoring services if offered by the companies involved.
  • Freeze Your Credit: A credit freeze can prevent unauthorized accounts from being opened in your name.
  • Stay Vigilant: Be wary of phishing attempts or scam calls that might exploit the breach.
