Vitenas Cosmetic Surgery Cyberattack Investigation

The data breach lawyers at The Lyon Firm are investigating a cyberattack at Vitenas Cosmetic Surgery, a data breach that has not yet been confirmed with an incident report on HHS’s public breach tool. Hackers, however, have posted evidence online regarding the attack and say negotiations with the healthcare entity have been ongoing. Cosmetic surgery data theft can be particularly damaging for individuals as these types of clinics frequently collect and store a large amount of data that may include nude photographs of patients.

What Happened at Vietnas Cosmetic Surgery?

On March 5, a threat actor known as Kairos listed Dr. Vitenas’s site on their darkweb leak site with claims that they leaked 1.34 GB of files related to the practice. Paul Vitenas, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S. is the founder of Vitenas Cosmetic Surgery, Mirror Mirror Beauty Boutique, and the Houston Surgery Center in Texas.

The data security site DataBreaches explored the data theft incident and confirmed that there was indeed unencrypted protected health information that included nude photos and other patient data. Other internal business documents related to employees and operational processes at the surgery center were also allegedly posted online. This data could have serious consequences for both the patients and staff members.

There is not any response or notice on the website of Vitenas Cosmetic Surgery, so the claims go unconfirmed at the time of writing. Contact our attorneys if you believe your data has been compromised in this cyberattack. We can seek compensation for damages and hold any negligent organization accountable.
