What Happened at Vista Point Mortgage?
Vista Point Mortgage, an Irvine, California mortgage credit solutions company, reported to the Attorneys General of Maine and Texas that it discovered a breach of its email network, an incident that resulted in an unauthorized individual accessing sensitive personal identifiable information.
Vista Point Mortgage offers various NonQM residential mortgage and business purpose loan programs for owner occupied and second home borrowers, non-owner or investment property borrowers, and owner and non-owner second mortgages.
After an investigation, Vista Point Mortgage confirmed that personal data in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third-party using more than one employees email account between the period of May 21, 2024, and June 5, 2024. Since June, Vista Point has been reviewing the data to determine what information was impacted and working to identify all individuals affected. The following types of information could be compromised:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Government issued ID number (e.g., passport, state ID card)
- Financial information (e.g., account number, credit or debit card number)
On November 18, 2024, Vista Point began mailing data breach notification letters to all impacted individuals. The notice should detail exactly which information was leaked.
