Val Verde Regional Medical Center reported a data breach on May 24 after an unauthorized party gained access to the company’s computer network. The bad actor may have downloaded a number of files containing sensitive patient data.

According to Val Verde, the security breach resulted in the names, addresses, Social Security numbers, patient account numbers, and medical records of patients being compromised. Val Verde has posted notice of the breach on its website, and has begun sending out data breach letters to all 86,000 impacted individuals.

Val Verde Regional Medical Center is a health system based in Texas. The center provides a wide range of services, including cancer treatment, cardiology, diabetes care, emergency care, mental health services, podiatry, rehabilitation, and surgical services.
