Sequoia One Data Breach Investigation
The Lyon Firm is actively involved in class action personal privacy and data theft cases and is currently investigating Sequoia One data breach claims on behalf of plaintiffs nationwide.
Sequoia One, which offers payroll and benefits management, has begun sending out data breach notice letters after it detected unauthorized access to a cloud storage repository that contained a large amount of sensitive and personal data related to customers.
Sequoia says the breach occurred between September 22 and October 6, 2022, and may have included the following information:
- Names
- Addresses
- Dates of birth
- Gender
- Marital status
- Employment status
- Social Security numbers
- Email addresses
- Wage data related to benefits
- Vaccine cards
- ID cards
- Covid-19 test results
It is relatively common for hackers to target unsecured cloud storage systems, and stolen data can take time to surface on the dark web. With third-party companies like Sequoia, end users have no chance to opt out of data storage and individuals have no idea where their data ends up in the long-term.
