What Happened at Numotion?

Numotion, a large provider of wheelchairs and other mobility solutions, has allegedly suffered a data breach impacting nearly 500,000 individuals. According to a notice posted on its website, Numotion (United Seating and Mobility) learned recently that employees email accounts were hacked into multiple times between September 2, 2024, and November 18, 2024.

An investigation concluded that some of the compromised emails contained customer information, including name, date of birth, product information, payment and financial account information, medical information, health insurance details, Social Security numbers and driver’s license numbers.

The company reported to the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that the “IT/hacking” incident affects more than 494,000 customers.

This is not the first cybersecurity incident targeting Numotion. In fact, just last year the company informed customers that hackers had accessed its network and removed files. The Black Basta ransomware group took credit for the previous attack.
