The healthcare provider allegedly leaked the data via Meta Pixel or Facebook Pixel, a snippet of code that tracks website visitor activity. Novant and other hospital systems have sent patient information to Meta through the tracking tool.
According to the Novant data breach notice, the following information could have been leaked to Facebook:

- Appointment type and date
- Physician
