The Lyon Firm Settles NCB Management Data Breach Claims
NCB Management Services, a Pennsylvania-based debt collection and accounts receivable company, has reached a settlement following a data breach that compromised sensitive consumer information. The incident, which surfaced in 2023, raised significant concerns about the handling of personal and financial data by third-party debt collectors across the United States.
Joe Lyon of The Lyon Firm served as co-lead counsel on the case.
Background on the NCB Data Breach
NCB Management provides account recovery and payment processing services for several major lenders and financial institutions. In February 2023, the company detected unauthorized access to its computer systems. Subsequent investigation revealed that cybercriminals had infiltrated the network and potentially accessed data tied to customers of several banks, including information connected to credit card accounts.
The exposed data reportedly included names, contact information, birthdates, Social Security numbers, credit card account numbers, and account balances. In response, NCB Management began notifying affected individuals and offered complimentary credit monitoring services.
The NCB Settlement
Following multiple consumer complaints and legal filings, NCB Management agreed to settle claims that it failed to adequately protect personal data and to provide timely notice of the breach. The settlement is designed to compensate affected individuals for time spent addressing potential identity theft risks and to improve the company’s cybersecurity practices going forward.
While specific payment amounts may vary, eligible class members can typically claim monetary benefits or reimbursement for documented expenses related to the breach. Those affected may also receive extended credit monitoring or identity protection services as part of the settlement terms.
