MCNA (Managed Care) Data Breach Investigation

In March 2023, Managed Care (MCNA Dental) became aware of suspicious IT activity on their systems. It was determined that a cyber criminal was able to steal copies of company data between February 26, 2023 and March 7, 2023.

MCNA Insurance is Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based insurance company. In a data breach notification letter filed with the Maine state attorney general’s office, Managed Care said their network was infected with malicious code.

The company lists over 100 affected organizations impacted by the breach that includes the Arkansas Department of Human Services, the City of New York Management Benefit Fund, Florida Healthy Kids Corporation, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, the Iowa Department of Human Services, Louisiana Department of Health, Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

Reports say over 8 million individuals linked to MCNA insurance may be impacted. That information may have included:

Demographic information (name, date of birth, address, telephone and email)
Social Security number
Driver’s license number
Health insurance information
Information regarding dental/orthodontic care
