What Happened at LexisNexis Risk Solutions?
LexisNexis reported to the Attorney General of Maine that a large amount of sensitive personal identifiable information (PII) in its possession may have been compromised. According to a sample breach notice sent to the Maine AG, on April 1, 2025, Lexis Nexis became aware of unauthorized activity on its computer network and started an investigation.
After the investigation, the company later concluded that sensitive personal information in its third-party platform used for software development was indeed accessed and acquired by unauthorized actors in late December 2024. The following types of information could potentially be exposed:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Contact information (phone number, address or email address)
- Driver’s license number
On May 24, Lexis Nexis Risk Solutions began mailing data breach notification letters to all impacted individuals, noting the specific data that may have been leaked.
