Keenan, a California-based insurance brokerage and consulting firm, has submitted a notification to the California Attorney General and the Office of the Maine Attorney General, warning that over 1.5 million people were impacted by a data breach incident.

The exact types of information stolen in this incident could differ by individual, depending on what data was on record and the relationship they had with the firm. The breach appears to impact both customers and company employees.

When sensitive data is exposed, victims must be aware of the increased risks for identity theft, fraud, phishing attacks, and health insurance fraud.
