On April 14, 2025, ASHN, a provider of home health and hospice care, reported a significant data breach to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, potentially affecting 93,589 individuals.
The security incident reportedly involved unauthorized access to a company email account. The incident was first detected in late May 20204, when Alternate Solutions concluded that an unauthorized actor had accessed one of its company email accounts.
An investigation with an external cybersecurity team determined on February 14, 2025, that the compromised account contained sensitive personal and health information, potentially including the following: names, dates of birth, addresses, driver’s license numbers, and Social Security numbers. Protected health information (PHI) was also exposed, including physician and clinician names, clinical information, diagnostic details, and treatment information.
ASHN is a healthcare services company based in Kettering, Ohio, offering post-acute home health programs and hospice care. Alternate Solutions is partnered with over 95 hospitals.
