What Happened at Form I-9 Compliance?

According to a notice sent to multiple states’ attorneys general, Form I-9 Compliance, a company operating out of Newport Beach, California, has experienced a data breach in which tens of thousands of individuals may have had their data leaked.

On April 12, 2024, Form I-9 Compliance apparently discovered that they were the target of a cyberattack resulting in a data breach. A large amount of sensitive personal identifiable information (PII) on its systems may have been accessed, including names and Social Security numbers. After an initial investigation, it was concluded that an unauthorized actor gained access to information in February 2024. On May 31, 2024, the company started notifying individuals about the incident.

According to its website, Form I-9 offers clients technology solutions and consulting services for E-Verify compliance, including Form Auditing, web-based electronic I-9 applications, full integration with the Department of Homeland Security’s E-Verify program and advice on corporate compliance with employment eligibility and immigration laws.
