According to recall notices, around 37 million bottles of various Pine-Sol products have been recalled due to potentially containing harmful bacteria.
Clorox and notices on the CPSC website said the affected Pine-Sol products could contain a bacteria called Pseudomonas aeruginosa, posing “a risk of serious infection that may require medical treatment.”
Which Pine-Sol Products Have Been Recalled?
Eight different versions of Pine-Sol have been recalled, including the following:
- Pine-Sol® Scented Multi-Surface Cleaners (Lavender Clean®, Sparkling Wave®, and Lemon Fresh)
- CloroxPro® Pine-Sol® All Purpose Cleaners (Lavender Clean®, Sparkling Wave®, Lemon Fresh, and Orange Energy®)
- Clorox® Professional™ Pine-Sol® (Lemon Fresh)
The potentially contaminated Pine-Sol cleaning products were made between January 2021 and September 2022 and sold on Amazon and at retailers such as Walmart, Target, Sam’s Club, Kroger and Dollar Tree.
Recalled Pine-Sol bottles have date codes beginning with the prefix “A4” followed by a five-digit number less than 22249.
If you or a loved one has suffered an injury linked to a recalled cleaning product, it is recommended to contact a product recall attorney. Due to the ubiquitous presence of many common chemical-based cleaning solutions, families may be at risk of toxic exposure in their own homes.
What is Pseudomonas aeruginosa?
The bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an environmental organism found widely in soil and water. People with weakened immune systems or external medical devices who are exposed to Pseudomonas aeruginosa may face a risk of serious infection that could require medical treatment. This bacteria can enter the body through inhalation, or contact with the eyes or skin.
