What Happened at DUO Broadband?

DUO Broadband recently reported the alleged breach to the Attorney General of Maine, noting that certain sensitive personal identifiable information in its possession may have been compromised. According to the breach notice sent to the AG of Maine, on February 13, 2025, DUO Broadband became aware of a suspicious IT incident in which a cyber threat actor attempted to disrupt its network.

After an investigation, DUO confirmed that sensitive personal information belonging to around 42,000 customers in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. The type of data impacted varies depending on the individual, but the type of exposed information potentially includes the following:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Date of birth

On May 15, 2025, DUO Broadband started mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based out of Jamestown, Kentucky, DUO is a telecommunications and entertainment company offering telephone and internet services to individuals and businesses in Kentucky. The company offers fiber-optic internet, TV streaming, and land-line telephone services.
