Ohio Medical Malpractice Attorney and Hospital Negligence Lawyer reviewing Fentanyl malpractice injury claims for plaintiffs nationwide

Opioids are not only something used illicitly on the streets, but is a growing problem in America’s hospitals, where cases of Prescription Errors and overdose are emerging. Thousands of American patients suffer from opioid addiction and many succumb to death when taking very strong drugs like Fentanyl, Oxycodone and Morphine.

An Ohio hospital has been one of several across the nation battling accusations that physicians and nurses misused fentanyl, which resulted in the death of dozens of patients. Attorneys say fentanyl was used in at least seven of the cases, but is not the only painkiller drug used excessively in the cases.

Mount Carmel West Hospital in Columbus, Ohio is being investigated for the death of at least 34 patients when an intensive-care doctor ordered excessive doses of painkillers. The hospital has placed six pharmacists and 14 nurses on administrative leave while Mount Carmel reviews the roles they played in dispensing and administering the dangerous drugs. The doctor in question has now been charged with 25 overdose deaths.

Mount Carmel West hospital said it implemented “ZeroHarm” and “High-Reliability” training policies over a year ago to eliminate preventable medical errors. Unfortunately some staff members failed to recognize the dangers of fentanyl malpractice and the result is dozens of wrongful deaths.
