Fiat Chrysler (FCA) has issued a recall for approximately 4.8 million vehicles in the United States, all due to a faulty cruise control. If the cruise control is initiated in certain driving circumstances, for instance when driving uphill to maintain speed,  a short-circuit may limit electrical control, and the cruise control might become stuck and remain in acceleration mode.

If this occurs, Ohio drivers can bring the vehicles to a halt, though not in a normal manner of driving. Hitting the brakes hard will overpower the engine function. Drivers can also place the car in neutral and brake.

Once in the Park position, the cruise control will be canceled, but not without maybe a scare or a dangerous driving situation.
