What Happened at ConnectWise?
On May 28, 2025, ConnectWise announced that it had recently experienced a cybersecurity incident that could have impacted ScreenConnect customers. According to the breach notice posted on the company website, ConnectWise learned of “suspicious activity” within its IT environment that may have been linked to sophisticated nation state actor. As of writing, the ConnectWise cybertattack investigation is ongoing and the company has not yet publicly disclosed the complete nature of the incident or if significant customer information was impacted.
According to their website breach notice, ConnectWise has begun contacting customers who have been affected by the breach and those letters may contain more details regarding the incident.
Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has alerted federal agencies of hackers exploiting a recently patched ScreenConnect vulnerability that could lead to executing remote code on the server. The agency is warning about security problems affecting ASUS routers and the Craft content management system (CMS).
ConnectWise has not commented on the attack method or the nature of the compromise. Reports state that the company found “a very small number of ScreenConnect customers” to be affected, though we will review all claims when an official number of impacted individuals is known.
